What Being VEGAN Means For Us

For us, vegan means more than plant-based latex. It means responsibility throughout the entire product.

At GLYDE, we do not see veganism as a trend. We see it as a clear and conscious choice. Natural rubber latex is plant-based by origin, but that does not automatically make every condom vegan. For us, true vegan integrity begins where others often stop: in the details of manufacturing, in the processing aids that are used, and in the question of whether a product is genuinely made without animal-derived substances.

That is why we believe vegan should never be treated as a vague marketing term. It should reflect the full reality of the product.

Many people assume that latex condoms are automatically vegan. That is understandable — but it is often not the case.

While latex itself comes from the sap of the rubber tree, conventional condom manufacturing may still involve animal-derived ingredients during processing. One of the most well-known examples is casein, a milk protein that has traditionally been used in the production of many latex condoms.

At GLYDE, we have chosen a different path. Instead of animal-derived casein, we use a plant-based substances in the manufacturing process. For us, that is not a minor technical detail. It is a reflection of what we believe a vegan product should be: transparent, consistent, and aligned with the values of the people who choose it.

What Vegan Means at GLYDE

Vegan means more than just plant-based raw materials

Natural rubber latex is plant-based. But for us, that is only part of the story.

A product is not truly vegan simply because its main raw material comes from a plant. What matters is the entire manufacturing process - including the ingredients, processing agents, and technical aids used along the way. A product may appear plant-based at first glance, while still relying on animal-derived substances during production.

That is why we make a clear distinction between made from latex and made to vegan standards.

Vegan means no animal-derived ingredients and no animal-derived processing aids

At GLYDE, vegan means more than what appears on a visible ingredient list. We look at the full product journey.
That means no animal-derived ingredients, no animal by-products, and no animal-derived processing aids quietly accepted as “industry standard.” We believe that if a product depends on animal-derived substances at any stage of production, it falls short of what vegan should mean.

This is why we consciously avoid casein and use a plant-based alternative instead.

Vegan means clarity and credibility

We believe trust comes from transparency. That is why independent standards matter.
For us, vegan is not a casual claim. It is a commitment that should be supported by clear criteria and credible oversight. People who actively choose vegan products should not be left to interpret vague language or make assumptions about manufacturing practices. They should be able to rely on clear standards and honest communication.

Why We Chose a Different Way

Our decision to avoid casein is a deliberate one

We did not arrive at our formulation by accident. We made a conscious decision to avoid animal-derived processing aids because we believe that a truly vegan product should reflect vegan values at every relevant stage of production.

For us, replacing casein with plant-based thistle extract is part of a broader philosophy: if we say a product is vegan, we want that statement to stand up to scrutiny.

We want to make conscious choices easier

Today’s consumers increasingly care not only about performance, but also about sourcing, ethics, and transparency. We believe that is a good thing.
When someone chooses a vegan condom, that decision should not require guesswork. It should not depend on reading between the lines or understanding obscure manufacturing terminology. Our goal is to make that decision clearer - by offering condoms that reflect the values of people who want sexual wellness products aligned with a vegan lifestyle.

Why Independent Standards Matter

Vegan should mean something specific

In a market where terms such as natural, plant-based, and clean are often used loosely, clear standards matter.
For us, vegan should not simply mean “free from obvious animal ingredients.” It should mean that animal-derived substances are excluded not only from the formulation itself, but also from the production process wherever relevant. That broader understanding is essential if vegan claims are to remain meaningful and credible.

Responsibility is part of product quality

At GLYDE, we believe that sexual health products should be designed with responsibility in mind. Condoms are not just another consumer product. They are connected to trust, intimacy, health, and personal values. That is why we believe ethical integrity belongs at the heart of product development. A condom should not only perform reliably. It should also reflect a clear and responsible product philosophy.

Vegan Without Compromising on Quality

For us, ethics and reliability belong together

A vegan condom should never be defined by values alone. It must also meet the practical expectations people place on a product they trust. We do not believe consumers should have to choose between ethical standards and product reliability. For us, those two things belong together. Our commitment to vegan manufacturing is part of the same mindset that drives our focus on quality, consistency, and responsible production.

What this means for our customers

When people choose GLYDE, we want them to feel confident that they are choosing a product aligned with their values - without compromise.
For us, vegan is not an add-on. It is not a trend label. It is an integral part of how we think about product design, manufacturing, and brand responsibility.

Our Conclusion

For us, being vegan means more than avoiding a single animal-derived ingredient. It means taking every stage of the product seriously - from raw material to manufacturing process. It means treating responsibility as something that must be built into the product, not added later as a marketing message. And it means giving people a choice that aligns with what they believe in.

That is what being vegan means to us.
